Occidental is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Automation and Controls Engineer in the Low Carbon Ventures Commercial Development department in Midland, TX. The role will be working at the Stratos Direct Air Capture facility in Notrees, TX. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and execution of automation engineering activities in Low Carbon Ventures projects at the Stratos DAC facility.
Responsibilities
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related degree
Experience
Minimum 8 years work experience on automation projects
Professional/Technical Knowledge
Knowledge of oil and gas production processes
Knowledge of RTUs. and PLCs. Understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of automation and electrical design principles and industry standards.
Understanding of Pre-Start Safety Review process (PSSR)s and Management of Change (MOCs).
Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming
Be knowledgeable with tagging conventions, programing simulation and testing
Skills & Competencies
Rockwell Studio 5000 and Plant PAx
Proficient in Root Cause Analysis
Ability to perform under pressure and work multiple projects concurrently
Ability to develop technical and economic recommendations with incomplete information
Strong written, oral and project management skills
