Welder will utilize a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery to fabricate metal products. The products produced by Total Safety companies save lives and promote the safe operation of our client’s businesses. Welding specification compliance regarding quality and quantity is absolutely essential to that function.
Safety: Maintaining a safe work environment is the most important responsibility for every employee.
Confidentiality: Maintain Company and customer confidentiality in all aspects of business, including but not limited to financial status, customer and employee relationships, and product development, design, and use.
Conduct: In accordance with the Total Safety Integrity agreement, observe all applicable safety rules, regulations, and instructions. Perform all assigned duties and functions in accordance with Company directives, rules and regulations. Arrive on time and prepared for work as scheduled.
Work: Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Grade Level 1 – Entry Level and Short Service Employee Additional Functions
Requires basic metal-working skills and continues through the entire welder/fabricator training process.
Grade Level 2 – Experienced Employee Additional Functions
Mid-level experienced welder/fabricator capable of routinely performing a wide variety of fabrication, pipefitting, and welding functions with minimal assistance or supervision. Includes all skills of Grade Level 1.
Grade Level 3 – Expert Employee Additional Functions
Expert level requires mastery of all facets from conception to completion of our manufactured products including evaluating and resolving complex issues and mentoring Fabrication Specialists Levels 1& 2.
Education: High school graduate, occupational school, or equivalent experience.
Interpersonal Communications: Verbally comprehend details and directions. Recognize and solve problems while working cooperatively with team members. Employees must remain amiable and able to work under extreme conditions and difficult circumstances. Employees must communicate and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times regardless of their assigned location. Inappropriate and offensive language will not be tolerated.
Good physical fitness is necessary to perform this job. Heavy lifting, requiring safety-awareness is frequent. Working in extremely hot temperatures is common. Bending, stooping, and other stressful physical activity is often required. The incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, talk, hear and smell. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant mental and physical stress.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
The work performed by Total Safety is dangerous. Our drug and alcohol use policy is zero-tolerance and includes random drug testing. Every employee has stop work authority. This means that if any employee deems an area or situation is dangerous and unsafe, they have the authority and obligation to stop all work without repercussion in that area until the locations’ safety authority declares it clear and safe. Failure to follow appropriate safety protocol is grounds for immediate termination.
Work is typically performed in a shop environment, standing at a fabrication table or working on pipe or parts the majority of the work shift. There may be considerable bending and stooping to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. Use of manufacturing tools, machinery and equipment is required. There may be long hours of intense concentration and physical labor which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. The shop is a hazardous environment. Safety considerations include but are not limited to electrical, heat, fire, mechanical hazards, radiation, fumes and deposits, noise, equipment operation, heavy materials moving, working in close or confined quarters, and working at heights. The employee may be required to make repairs or assist in installations in the field. The employee is required to attend safety classes and meetings, on site and where offered, and attend other company sponsored informational meetings.
Complexity of Duties and Decisions: Work consists of moderately complex procedures and tasks where mathematical and mechanical abilities are required. An understanding of the properties of metals, welding components, and gases is essential. An awareness of personal and group safety requirements must always be of paramount consideration.
Authority: Personally responsible for product quality control.Must reveal any problems or defects to maintain product integrity and customer safety.
