The Senior Project Manager – Special Projects is a high-level construction professional responsible for overseeing complex, high-value, and strategically significant installation projects. This role requires extensive experience managing multimillion-dollar construction projects—preferably within HVAC or solar—and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with C-level executives, senior stakeholders, and strategic partners.
Serving as a senior member of the Project Management team, this role provides leadership to Project Managers while independently managing special projects from planning through completion. The Senior Project Manager – Special Projects plays a key role in delivering advanced renewable energy and infrastructure solutions aligned with World Energy Services’ mission of sustainable innovation.
- Lead and execute complex, high-visibility, or multimillion-dollar commercial installation projects.
- Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution for special projects with elevated technical or logistical requirements.
- Coordinate cross-departmental involvement for projects requiring specialized engineering, permitting, or utility processes.
- Oversee all logistics required for special project installations, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery.
- Develop, manage, and report on project budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Review, negotiate, and approve subcontractor and vendor agreements for specialized scopes.
- Manage contract documents, change orders, and project closeout requirements.
- Coordinate with utility providers to meet advanced inspection and interconnection requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all project, utility, safety, and quality standards.
- Mentor and support Project Managers by providing technical and strategic guidance.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for solar installation, energy systems, and commercial construction practices.
- Enhance project management processes, workflows, and documentation standards.
- Serve as the primary representative for high-priority customers and executive-level stakeholders.
- Present project updates, risks, and strategic considerations to internal leadership and C-suite partners.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with key clients, utilities, and subcontractors.
- Identify issues early and drive effective resolutions to maintain schedule and budget integrity.
- Participate in strategic planning for new project types, technologies, or service offerings.
- Support department leadership on operational and organizational initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field preferred (not required)
- 5–10 years of project management experience in commercial or industrial construction
- Proven experience managing multimillion-dollar construction projects
- Experience in HVAC or commercial solar installation strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success executing complex or large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Extensive knowledge of construction means, methods, and operations
- Ability to confidently interface with C-level executives and senior decision makers
- Ability to lead multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and OutlookAbility to develop scopes of work, troubleshoot complex issues, and propose cost-effective solutions
- Must be able to travel to project sites and respond to urgent situations as required
- Strong initiative with the ability to assume additional responsibilities
This position has a base salary determined by related and relevant experience, plus a lucrative bonus plan.
