Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations in our workshop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of skilled workers, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with both staff and management.
Duties
•
Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop personnel to ensure timely completion of projects.
•
Review blueprints and technical drawings to understand project requirements and specifications.
•
Utilize power tools and machinery safely while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
•
Perform stick welding, machining, and fabrication tasks as needed.
•
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and tools to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
•
Train new employees on shop procedures, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
•
Maintain accurate records of production processes, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.
•
Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment on timelines and deliverables.
Skills
•
Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
•
Strong knowledge of rigging techniques and use of calipers and micrometers for precise measurements.
•
Experience with power tools, stick welding, machining, and fabrication processes.
•
Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and material requirements.
•
Ability to work effectively on a construction site while adhering to safety regulations.
•
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team.
•
Strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise during production.
