Deep tech space start-up seeking an
Electronic engineering expert
to use their skill in the design of laser and optical systems electronics for space applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with laser driver and optical system electronics and the use of computer-aided engineering tools and will be able to work effectively with a cross-functional team to build, document, test and qualify products. The successful candidate will also be required to perform laboratory work, assemble prototypes, execute standard administrative tasks as well as perform research into new technologies in their area of expertise.
Description of responsibilities
Here are the tasks you will perform:
•Laser driver or current source circuit board design/simulation, sourcing, assembly procedure development and documentation in accordance with aerospace standards and best practices. High power, kW class laser driver experience, an asset.
•Laser and/or system communication circuit board design, assembly procedure development and documentation
•Printed circuit board design, simulation, sourcing and validation
•Optical receiver and receiver system circuit board development
•Writing environmental test plans and writing reports.
•Execution of test plans and occasionally travel to external laboratory (~3-5 days per 3 months)
•Design circuit board in support of laboratory and qualification setup including communication interface and high-power laser monitoring
•Communicate (Ethernet, RS232, RS422, USB, I2C, CANBUS) with test equipment and lasers / basic programming
•Microcontroller programming must-have
•FPGA programming (Verilog, VHDL), an asset
•IST coupon design knowledge, an asset
•Military, defence and aeronautic grade design rules knowledge and proficiency, an asset
•Knowledge on the impact of radiation and vacuum on electronic components and optical components, an asset
Required skills
•High power electronics design and product development experience
•Knows circuit board design and physical layout tool
•Knows circuit board manufacturing processes
•Knows radiation tolerant/hardened technologies and/or willing to deepen this field
•Basics coding (python, C++)
•Electronic circuit debugging
•Simulation tools knowledge is an asset.
•Creativity and analytical skills
•Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly multidisciplinary team
•Space application and space requirements basic knowledge an asset or willingness to learn a must
Requirements
•Baccalaureate in electronics engineering or equivalent.
•+5 years of experience in high

technology
•Bilingual (French and English spoken and written) an asset
•If not fluent in French and English, must be willing to learn French or English
