Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery to safely and efficiently handle scrap materials and maintain operational flow.his role requires a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
Responsibilities:
•
Operate scrap-handling equipment such as shear, material handlers, front-end loaders, and excavators to move, load, and sort materials.
•
Use skid steers and forklifts for material handling and site maintenance.
•
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation.
•
Safely load and unload materials, adhering to company protocols and safety standards.
•
Collaborate with other team members to maintain an organized and efficient yard.
•
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and work areas.
•
Follow all company policies and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
Qualifications:
•
Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including scrap-handling equipment, front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and similar machinery.
•
Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
•
Strong understanding of safety protocols in an industrial setting.
•
Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy materials as needed.
•
High school diploma or equivalent.
•
Valid certifications for operating heavy equipment and forklifts are a plus.
•
Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
