The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive management of inventory levels and accuracy in UMI’s Customer Managed Inventory (CMI) warehouse and purchasing activity in a warehousing and distribution setting for a 41,000 sq. ft. warehouse. This position will support multiple revenue streams associated with the warehouse, as well participate with the manufacturing and purchasing entities in order to properly plan for supply in support of inventory levels and usage.
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Responsible for recommending, and working with management to ensure appropriate inventory control measures/processes for each area of the warehouse.
- Recommend an appropriate cadence for performing inventory cycle counts periodically, as necessary
- Analyze, using the ERP System, usage and lead-times in order to determine recommendations for Inventory Minimums of UMI purchased and manufactured parts
- Work with warehouse management and operators to ensure proper process flows resulting in timely, efficient, and accurate transaction processing in the ERP system
- Own the transaction processing in the ERP system related to all transactions directly affecting piece part inventory
- Provide guidance/assistance with respect to proper processing of inventory transactions for parts/materials determined to be taken out of service/circulation and scrapped
- Recommend and maintain optimal inventory levels using Demand Planning, Supply Chain Management, and Forecasting tools
- Run Auto PO Generation specifically for the UMI Manufacturing entity to execute supply/replenishment of parts manufactured by UMI and inventoried at the CMI warehouse)
- Provide support on the warehouse floor, as needed, as a back-up to keep things moving for the customer(s)
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
- Work to maintain a clean, organized warehouse
- Other duties as assigned
· Degree from 2 or 4 year college/university preferred
· 3 to 5 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Must be competent in using Microsoft Word and Excel for generating written reports and spreadsheet
- Highly prefer previous experience using ERP software
- Experience with inventory transactions in an ERP system
- Good communication skills, and ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as open orders, blueprints, shipping/receiving related paperwork and procedures
- Familiarity with elements of Supply and Demand as it relates to a manufacturing entity
- Ability to prepare reports and correspondence
- Should demonstrate strong attention to detail, listening skills, versatility and multi-tasking
- Must have strong work ethic, be high-energy, and detail-oriented
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; stand; sit; and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything greater should involve usage of lifting equipment. Warehouse environment is comfortable but changes based on season. Office area temperature controlled, warehouse floor is not.
