The IPS Group is a leading industrial services firm specializing in safety & rescue, catalyst handling, mechanical services, turnarounds, and petrochemical training. With decades of experience in the petrochemical, refinery, and chemical industries, IPS is committed to safety, reliability, and quality — delivering turnkey industrial solutions with integrity and excellence.
Our clients depend on us to maintain the highest standards for safety, equipment integrity, and operational quality — and we depend on our quality control team to make that possible.
As an entry-level QA/QC Inspector at IPS/ITCS, you will play a key role in ensuring that materials, work processes, and final deliverables meet required quality standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. You will perform inspections, testing, documentation, and reporting — helping maintain compliance and reliability during turnarounds, catalyst services, mechanical maintenance, and other project work across petrochemical facilities.
This is a contracting role that offers the possibility of conversion to full-time employment based on performance and company needs. Travel to job sites and plant locations is required.
- Perform quality inspections and tests on incoming materials, components, and finished work to verify compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards (e.g. welding, mechanical fittings, catalyst handling, general fabrication).
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders to ensure correct execution and adherence to technical requirements.
- Document inspection results, produce quality reports, record non-conformance or defects, and communicate findings promptly to supervisors or project leads.
- Monitor welding, mechanical, and fabrication work (or catalyst handling processes) to ensure procedures and safety protocols are followed, and quality/standards are maintained.
- Conduct or coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT), dimensional measurements, visual inspections, and other checks as required by project scope.
- Assist in maintaining calibration and proper use of inspection tools and measurement equipment; report malfunctioning or out-of-tolerance tools.
- Support QA/QC documentation control: maintain accurate records of inspection results, test reports, certificates, findings, rework or corrective actions, and final signoffs.
- Provide support during turnarounds, shutdowns, maintenance, and catalyst/mechanical projects — sometimes working on-site and traveling to various facilities or client locations.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and site-specific safety rules at all times.
- High school diploma or GED required. Relevant technical or trade school certification is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of PCC1 and ASME section 8
- Strong attention to detail, observational skills, and ability to identify deviations from specifications or standards.
- Basic technical aptitude — ability to read blueprints and interpret mechanical/engineering drawings.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments — possible exposure to mechanical work, welding, catalyst handling, refineries, or chemical plants.
- Willingness to travel, possibly stay on-site, and work variable schedules depending on project requirements.
- Good communication and documentation skills — able to clearly record inspection results, write coherent quality reports, and communicate with engineers, project leads, and subcontractors.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards — the backbone of IPS’s operations.
- Hourly wage: $28–$32 (depending on experience) with potential overtime during turnarounds and shutdowns
- Contract-to-hire path: show performance, reliability, and safety awareness — and earn a full-time position with benefits
- On-the-job training and growth opportunities within a wide variety of industrial services (catalyst, mechanical, safety, turnaround, rescue)
- Exposure to high-level petrochemical industry work — refineries, chemical plants, catalyst services — valuable experience for career growth
We look forward to adding dedicated, detail-oriented individuals to our team — people ready to uphold the quality, safety, and integrity that make IPS a trusted partner in the petrochemical industry.
