The Machining Engineer is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the CNC machining processes. This role serves as the primary liaison with tooling/equipment suppliers to improve tooling lifespan, optimize CNC productivity rates, and ensure proper equipment usage and setup. The position directly supports manufacturing efficiency, quality improvements, and new product development.
· Interface with machinist to review CNC machining and tooling performance rates.
· Collaborate with tooling suppliers to ensure proper tooling selection and to develop improved cutting tools for specific PM applications.
· Coordinate and communicate continuous improvement initiatives with engineering and manufacturing teams.
· Provide machine engineering input needed for customer quotations in a timely manner.
· Program CNC equipment and create/maintain setup documentation.
· Drive quality standard improvements and enhance production capability through best-in-class manufacturing practices.
· Support development of CNC machining capacity plans alongside the VP of Ops and Eng.
· Assist in the development of new products related to machining processes.
· Ensure safe operation of all new machining equipment.
· Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs for all CNC equipment.
· Research, evaluate, and recommend potential new equipment.
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering and/or 3–5 years of machining experience.
· Forward-thinking, open-minded, and methodical approach to problem solving.
· Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
· CNC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance experience (SolidCam).
· Proficiency with Fanuc controls on CNC equipment.
· Experience with Solid Edge, SolidWorks, and Inventer (preferred but not required).
