Tata Steel Minerals Canada Limited (TSMC) with its headquarters in Montreal (Quebec), operates iron ore mines in the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec. We’re seeking Safety Advisors to support our port operations in Sept-Îles, QC, on flexible schedules. Opportunities include fly-in/fly-out (2-weeks-on/2-weeks-off) rotations and/or Monday–Friday coverage for local candidates. Several days per week; part-time/roster arrangements are also available.
Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety, and with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the VP – Planning & Logistics, the Safety Advisor is responsible for monitoring worksite to ensure compliance with all Safety Regulations. The position requires the ability to cope with changing circumstances and situations with little supervision.
The incumbent will interact with operational personnel, senior managers, and departmental heads throughout the organization. They will be responsible for fostering positive relationships with regulatory authorities, agencies, and service providers outside the organization. Other contacts will be established at a working level as appropriate.
These positions are open to both local and FIFO candidates.

• Observes and instructs on safe working practices and security procedures
• Conducts incident investigations and reports back to appropriate personnel
• Assesses safety and security hazards and determines immediate corrective actions and recommends long term solutions
• Provides information on safety issues to the organization’s staff, contractors and stakeholders
• May represents the organization on government and the industry committees
• Analyses technical data for trends related to hazards, events, and occurrences
• Investigates opportunities to increase the efficiency of processes
• Compiles all safety statistics for the company and subcontractors
• Certificate in Organizational Health & Safety or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years safety experience in a port-site, mining or manufacturing environment
Good knowledge of CNESST regulations
Bilingual (English and French)

AMQ Mine Safety certification would be an asset
• Advanced First Aid or Industrial First Aid Certification
