The Field Steel Welder / Ironworker will be responsible for the on-site installation and connection of structural steel components, including welding, bolting, rigging, and layout tasks. This position requires proficiency in interpreting erection drawings, operating field equipment, and working safely at heights in a variety of outdoor conditions.
Qualified candidates will have a mild background in structural steel or ironwork, demonstrate sound judgment, and possess the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The role may also include shop fabrication duties as needed to support project timelines. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-visibility construction projects while continuing to develop trade skills in a professional field environment.
Responsibilities
•Weld and bolt structural steel assemblies in accordance with project specifications and shop drawings
•Cut, cope, and fit steel members using appropriate tools and methods
•Erect and install columns, beams, stairs, and other structural elements
•Rig, hoist, and align steel components using cranes and mechanical lifts
•Operate jobsite equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and reach lifts
•Maintain compliance with all safety protocols and site requirements
•Perform layout and basic measurement verification
Skills & Qualifications:
•3–5 years of field experience in structural steel erection or ironworking
•Competence working at height and familiarity with fall protection systems
•Basic knowledge of rigging, hand signaling, and crane coordination
•Ability to read and interpret erection drawings and layout markings
•Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
•Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in outdoor environments
•Effective communication skills and a commitment to jobsite professionalism
Preferred but Not Required:
•Certified FCAW/MIG welder
•OSHA 10 or 30 certification
•Aerial lift or forklift certification
