Manage the SPR central computer center to ensure maximum availability of Data Sytems infrastructure. The Data Systems infrastucture is critical to the operation of the SPR. Daily operations and drawdown systems are now automated and rely heavily on the Data System infrastructure being operational, making this critical to meeting mission support requirements. Manage network engineers and telecommunication personnel to ensure mission critical requirements are met. Responsible for maintaining Cyber Security requirements on the SPR network. Responsible for network infrastructure to support the Cyber Security and Network Business Application availability WAD measures. Manage the SPR Disaster recovery program. Responsible for design and operations of the alternate computer center in the event of a disaster affecting the SPR. Manage projects that affect the overall productivity of the SPR work force, from the requirements phase through the implementation phase to ensure operational needs are met. Manage configuration changes and quality control of network resources to reduce outages and compatibility problems. Manage new network hardware and software and interacts with vendors, and user community to resolve technical issues to ensure that systems meet the operational requirements for functional departmental use Manage the SPR data backup service; maintaining data is a critical requirement that affects both MOC and DOE. Nightly backups of network stored data is critical to the efficient operation of the SPR. The lost of data is a lost of production time to the SPR. Manage the integrity and optimum performance of network equipment to avoid disruptions to service. Manage the telecommunications network including all circuits, and telephones. Provide technical consulting for MOC and DOE to solve complex Data System problems. Manage departmental budget formulation and execution to ensure budget is managed as submitted to DOE. Make final technical decisions on complex solutions for Data Systems projects. Manage the SPR internet access network and cellular telephone service. Interface with DOE counterparts to define long-range plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field and fifteen years experience OR HS Diploma and 20 years of experience in technical systems administration. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES Based on the assigned duties of the position the incumbent may be required to maintain a security clearance.
