Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) is seeking a service-driven Member Service Representative to join our team in Dinwiddie, Virginia.
Our dedicated Member Service Representatives are responsible for responding to requests for electric service, information, and resolving complaints of Cooperative members in a prompt and courteous manner. We aren't your typical customer service environment. Our members aren't just our customers; they are also owners along with us. We have high expectations that they will receive a quality of service that is unmatched by any industry. Maybe that's why the majority of our Member Service Representatives stay with us through retirement age.
You've been working in the Member/Customer service field for at least three years. Experience working for an Electric Cooperative or utility is highly preferred.
- Receive and process inquiries from members related to electric service and other Cooperative programs and follow-up to ensure that their problem has been resolved.
- Issue service orders for new accounts, transfers, reconnections, disconnections, and other services requested by members.
- Make appointments for staking technicians for new services and service updates.
- Resolve member billing complaints and other inquiries using the telephone, e-mail, or general correspondence.
- Take consumer payments and perform daily balance of accounts receivable.
- Verify documentation to release work orders, obtain and confirm Miss Utility ticket, enter/update information, perform district close of work orders.
Advise Supervisor of Member Service of trends in member concerns, suggestions, and of the need for possible new services and products based upon information obtained through member contacts.
- Qualified candidates have attained their high school diploma or GED.
- Associate's degree with an emphasis in general business, accounting, public relations, or communications preferred.
You are knowledgeable in general office practices and procedures with an understanding of basic accounting practices, rates, and regulations. You can efficiently operate office equipment including, but not limited to, voice terminal, personal computer/printer, facsimile, copier, ten-key calculator and scanner. You are proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, and Word. The ability to analyze and process information and recommend solutions is one of your best qualities. Knowledge of Cooperative processes, procedures, and operations is a plus.
Our Dinwiddie Member Service Representatives must reside within 60 minutes legal drive time of our District Office located in Dinwiddie, VA. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Candidates already residing in the required area will receive priority consideration.
