Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Telehandler Operator to join our dynamic steel manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will operate a telescopic forklift (telehandler) to move, load, and unload heavy steel materials and fabricated components within the shop and yard. Your expertise will ensure efficient material handling, support fabrication processes, and uphold safety standards across the facility. - Operate telehandlers safely and efficiently to transport steel beams, sheets, and fabricated parts throughout the shop floor and yard
- Assist with loading and unloading raw materials, finished products, and equipment using appropriate attachments and safety protocols
- Coordinate with fabrication teams to deliver materials precisely where needed for CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, or machining operations
- Conduct routine inspections of the telehandler to ensure proper functioning; perform basic maintenance as required
- Follow all safety procedures related to crane operation, material handling, and site protocols to prevent accidents or damage
- Support fabrication activities by assisting with assembly tasks using hand tools and mechanical knowledge when necessary
- Maintain accurate logs of material movements and ensure proper stacking and storage of steel components
- Valid forklift certification with experience operating telescopic forklifts or telehandlers in a manufacturing setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to cranes, hand tools, tooling, and fabrication equipment such as press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and welding tools
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings for precise material placement and assembly tasks
- Familiarity with quality inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, precision measuring instruments, and basic math skills for measurements
- Understanding of safety standards related to crane operation, sheet metal handling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), plasma cutting, and CNC programming basics is a plus
- Experience working in manufacturing environments involving CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC machining processes or sheet metal fabrication is preferred
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members across different departments
