We are looking for an Industrial Hygienist who will be located in our headquarters office located in Dallas, Texas.
Responsibilities•Provide IH technical leadership and direction through development and implementation of corporate programs and procedures, tools, and databases.
•Provide direct hands-on support to manufacturing sites to assure protection of worker health and compliance with company policy and health regulations.
•Complete specific projects, as needed, such as training site personnel in sampling techniques, assisting in updating and maintaining site exposure assessments, assisting in developing facility sampling schedules, conducting PPE assessments, compiling and analyzing IH monitoring data, generating IH monitoring data reports, selecting assisting in selecting appropriate respiratory protection equipment and PPE, and evaluating engineering and administrative controls.
•Assist sites in obtaining or maintaining OSHA STAR status.
•Manage new chemical approval process for all facilities using WERCS database and providing support to facility IH programs using Intelex database (IH Module).
•Provide support/assistance to TSCA related issues as needed.
•Serve on issue task teams that are formed to address specific concerns that arise in the company.
•Recommend, educate, and influence OxyChem management and facilities using state-of-the-art industrial hygiene knowledge on health risks, so that hazards can be identified, assessed, and appropriately managed to ensure minimization of exposures and reduction of risks to employees, the public, the environment, and company assets.
•Serve as a subject matter expert on select health topics of importance to the company.
•Analyze proposed, new or revised regulations to determine impact on the company or individual manufacturing locations and develop compliance guidance as appropriate. Prepare comments on behalf of the company on pending regulations to ensure company position is provided.
•Review OxyChem capital project AFE’s.
•Participate in HES&S Coordinated Audits and lead Peer Reviews to provide
•OxyChem management and facilities with an evaluation of facilities’ efforts to comply with OxyChem programs, policies and procedures.
•Support the annual budget for the Corporate HES&S Department.
•Support other functional personnel within the Corporate HES&S Department.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Health/Hygiene, Occupational Safety/Health, Environmental Health Science and/or closely related discipline.
•Minimum of 5 years practical experience in an industrial setting, preferably the chemical industry.
•Ability to understand and operate computerized systems and databases.
•Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment, with functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Must achieve Corporate and site HES&S goals by establishing personal credibility through highly developed technical leadership and interpersonal skills.
•Possess excellent communication skills, technical writing, and the ability to build business relationships with both internal and external contacts.
Additional Qualifications
•MS or MPH in Industrial Hygiene or closely related field is preferred.
•Knowledge of WERCS, Intelex, and/or Power BI applications is useful.
•Professional Certification is beneficial, but not required.
