Job Summary
The Lead Solar Installer oversees and executes residential and commercial solar installations from start to finish. This role ensures projects meet code, manufacturer standards, and safety requirements while leading an installation crew in the field. The Lead Installer works closely with project managers, electricians, and inspectors to deliver high-quality solar energy systems on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manage installation crews and delegate tasks efficiently
- Install solar modules, racking, wiring, and balance-of-system components
- Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and manufacturer specifications
- Perform quality checks and troubleshooting during and after installation
- Maintain safe work practices and enforce OSHA standards
- Communicate project status with management and clients
- Train and mentor new installers and apprenticesQualifications:
- 3+ years solar installation experience
- Strong knowledge of NEC and solar electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret plans and electrical diagrams
- Leadership and crew management skills
- Comfort working at heights and in varied outdoor conditions
- NABCEP certification preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Experience

- Previous experience in installation or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with using an ohmmeter is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including potential overtime as needed.
