Marks Brothers is a leading manufacturer of ASME-coded pressure vessels and heat exchangers, serving industrial, energy, and process markets. We are seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Welder to support precision fabrication in a quality-driven, safety-focused environment.
The Fabrication Welder will be responsible for welding and fabricating pressure vessels and heat exchangers in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Section IX, and applicable codes and customer specifications. This role requires exceptional technical skill, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Perform GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials
- Weld pressure-retaining components in compliance with ASME Section VIII and IX requirements
- Interpret and execute work per engineering drawings, WPS, PQRs, and fabrication travelers
- Complete root passes, fill, and cap welds to stringent quality and inspection standards
- Prepare materials including fit-up, joint preparation, and alignment
- Participate in NDE processes including RT, UT, PT, and MT as required
- Maintain weld quality suitable for radiographic and ultrasonic examination
- Adhere to all quality control, safety, and documentation requirements
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve fabrication issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience welding pressure vessels and/or heat exchangers
- Current or previously qualified ASME Section IX weld certifications
- Proven ability to consistently pass radiographic (RT) and ultrasonic (UT) inspection
- Extensive experience with GTAW (TIG) for root passes and SMAW/GMAW for fill and cap
- Demonstrated experience welding pressure-retaining components (no structural-only experience)
- Ability to read and interpret complex fabrication drawings and welding symbols
- Strong knowledge of weld metallurgy, heat input control, and distortion management
- Experience working in a code shop environment (ASME U, U2, or R Stamp preferred)
- High attention to detail with a zero-defect mindset
- Ability to meet production schedules without compromising quality
- Experience with exotic materials (Inconel, Duplex, Hastelloy, Chrome-Moly)
- Experience welding tube-to-tubesheet joints
- Familiarity with PWHT requirements and procedures
- Forklift and overhead crane operation experience
- Ability to mentor junior welders
- Ability to work in shop and field environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces
- Willingness to work overtime and varying shifts as required
- Must pass a weld test, drug screen, including THC, and background check
