- Function as a business partner within one of our North American divisions.
- Partner with Business Managers to perform operational and financial analyses for all Canadian Operations.
- This position will include acting as Talc Canada Assistant Controller, with accounting support provided by accounting personnel on site, as well as our US Talc Operations in Montana.
- Provide financial metrics and review operations performance.
- Manage and complete month end closing process.
- Participate in monthly P&L reviews with the Production and Supply Chain teams.
- Develop new models and controls serving the operations analysis.
- Assist in streamlining business processes to achieve business goals.
- Take a participatory leadership role in monitoring and controlling expenditures of the operations, including preparing / challenging AFE (Authorization For Expenditure) requests, calculations, and assumptions.
- Help management improve working capital levels, track efficiency improvements in regular periodic intervals, and increase profitability.
- Provided on-site support for all operations; Timmins, Penhorwood & Foleyet
- Work with operations and accounting teams to ensure that all accounting and reporting tools are effective, dependable and provide appropriate reports to monitor the business’ performance.
- Take an active participatory leadership position in the operations efforts to implement new processing and accounting control systems.
- Work closely with the accounting department during the month end close, including inventory valuations and counts, as well as analysis against prior year and budget as examples.
- Actively participate and lead in the budget and forecasting process.
- Assist in external and internal audits (as needed)
- Assist in preparation of annual Income Tax.
- Oversee payroll and pension compliance.
- Manage and develop accounting staff.
- Complete other projects assigned at the sites or by NA Talc Division.
- Internal Controls: Insure timely and accurate application of Magris’ policies, and accounting & internal controls rules. Stay up to date on rules and policies as needed to insure awareness and adequate application of policies, rules, and laws.
- Continuous Process Improvement: continuously improving all Magris critical financial metrics.
- Ad hoc improvement projects.
- Five years finance, accounting, or equivalent degree from accredited University or College. Masters in same field preferred.
- Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: Thorough understanding of IFRS.
- CPA, CMA or equivalency (preferred)
- Fluent in English
- Computer Skills: Excellent MS Office Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint. Experience as Super-user or equivalent of ERP software in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years performing similar primary duties & responsibilities (above). Also minimum of 3 years with manufacturing operations (preferred).
- Management experience (preferred).
- Travel: International up to 10%
