Company: Machine Time Inc. – Nicholasville, KY
This position is full-time and works 5 x 8-hour shifts (Mon – Fri) approximately 40 hours per week with occasional overtime on weekdays and/or weekends at Machine Time’s manufacturing facility located in Nicholasville, KY.
The Production Welder reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for completing scheduled production orders, managing setups, verifying programs and fixtures, and ensuring welded components meet all drawings, processes, and quality requirements. MIG welding and robotic welding are used in a variety of production jobs, so experience with either is beneficial.
This role is hands-on and essential to supporting Machine Time’s initiatives around standardization, efficiency, and scaling. The Production Welder will work collaboratively with team members while maintaining ownership of their production area, equipment, and output. This position supports the Mission and Vision of Machine Time, Inc.
- Operate welders, cutting torches, grinders, gouging equipment, forklifts, cranes, and other hand tools.
- Perform metal forming, bending, and finishing operations.
- MIG, TIG, and stick weld parts to customer requirements and engineering prints.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Operate sawing and drilling tools with precision.
- Run and maintain production welding robots, including loading/unloading parts, verifying programs, monitoring weld quality, and ensuring consistent output.
- Operate press brakes to bend components to specification, including setup, tooling changes, angle verification, and quality checks.
- Operate ironworker equipment for shearing, punching, and notching operations.
- Cut and weld parts to print with consistent quality.
- Maintain fixtures used to locate and secure welded components.
- Perform setups and ensure programs, tooling, and fixtures are correctly prepared for upcoming jobs.
- ·Maintain and track inventory of consumables, materials, welded subassemblies, and finished goods for assigned production orders.
- Provide a high level of attention to detail and maintain focus during production.
- Perform general fabrication tasks including repair, design, layout, and estimation support.
- Follow all safety rules, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Experience as a Welder/Fabricator with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Work experience with shop math proficiency, computer literacy, and strong mechanical aptitude is appreciated; basic math skills required.
- Ability to lift and carry tools/materials up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely work in an environment with consistent noise and vibration from metalworking equipment (hearing protection provided).
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn robotic welding equipment, press brakes, and ironworker shearing machines.
- Knowledge of MIG welding and Robotic welding, ITAR, and/or AS9100.
- Knowledge of CNC machining is a plus.
- LEAN/TPM manufacturing experience.
- Experience working with startups or scale up of small businesses.
