We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer at our West Union facility who is passionate about driving excellence in product quality, process improvement, and operational efficiency. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations while also identifying opportunities for continual improvement using industry-leading quality tools and data analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Develop, evaluate, and revise quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products.
•Ensure compliance with Itron’s Quality Management System and applicable government regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, UL, Measurement Canada).
•Perform engineering-level analysis of data across the product lifecycle—including design validation, production testing, reliability, and field performance.
•Lead cross-functional problem-solving using 8D, and DMAIC methodologies.
•Conduct root cause analysis and implement robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
•Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase product quality, reduce waste, and optimize process capability (Cp, Cpk).
•Create and maintain Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, and other core quality documentation.
•Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Quality Technicians and Auditors.
•Support and lead internal/external audits and ensure audit readiness.
•Liaise with R&D, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Product Management teams on quality-related matters.
•Develop and maintain quality dashboards using tools like Power BI, Minitab, or similar.
•Manage day-to-day activities and performance of direct reports assigned.
•Support deployment of quality best practices across departments, promoting a culture of operational excellence.
Required Skills & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field required, preferred Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
•3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a Quality Engineering role; experience in automotive or electronics manufacturing preferred.
•Strong knowledge and application of quality tools, including:
+ APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC
+ 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa/Fishbone
+ Statistical analysis (using Minitab or similar)
•Familiarity with QMS standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or IATF 16949.
•Experience with ERP and QMS software systems.
•Strong data management and analysis skills; proficiency in Excel required.
•Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
•Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
•ISO9001 Internal Auditor certification preferred.
•Oracle knowledge a plus.
•Experience with SQL and Power BI a plus.
