The Packaging Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of packaging equipment and processes within our mineral manufacturing plant. This role involves packaging finished product according to established procedures and quality standards, ensuring accurate labeling and preparing product for shipment.
- Operate and monitor packaging equipment, including fillers, sealers, labelers, and conveyors, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
- Package finished product into designated containers (bags, boxes, drums, etc.) according to work orders and specifications.
- Inspect packaged product for quality defects (e.g., proper sealing, correct labeling, damaged containers) and take corrective action as needed.
- Ensure accurate labeling of packaged product, including lot numbers, product codes, and other required information.
- Maintain accurate records of packaged product, including quantities, lot numbers, and any discrepancies.
- Perform routine maintenance on packaging equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including packaging equipment and surrounding areas.
- Communicate with other production team members to coordinate packaging schedules and resolve any issues.
- Assist with other production tasks as needed, such as material handling or quality control.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience operating packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- This position requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- The employee must be able to lift and carry heavy objects regularly.
- The work environment may include exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- The Packaging Operator works in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- The work schedule includes day, evening, or night shifts, and may require overtime or weekend work.
