Corporate Waste Coordinator – Haz Mat Special Services, LLC
The Corporate Waste Coordinator oversees and manages the company’s waste management operations and ensures compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, transportation requirements, and industry standards. This position serves as the central point of contact for all waste profiling, disposal coordination, and regulatory documentation for both routine operations and emergency response projects.
This is a hands‑on operational role that directly supports field projects, emergency response activities, and client service delivery. The position requires strong organizational skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Develop and implement comprehensive waste management plans, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the safe and compliant handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste materials.
- Support project teams in developing waste strategies for remediation and emergency response operations.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, DOT HazMat regulations, and state‑specific waste rules.
- Ensure all company operations remain in full compliance with applicable environmental and transportation regulations.
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert on waste and disposal compliance issues.
- Coordinate and oversee accurate characterization, profiling, and classification of waste streams.
- Prepare and submit waste profiles to landfills, transfer stations, and TSDF facilities (e.g., Waste Connections, WM, Republic).
- Maintain an organized library of approved waste profiles and analytical documentation.
- Review laboratory data and apply process knowledge to determine proper disposal pathways.
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping of waste generation, transportation, and disposal activities.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and maintain e‑Manifest records.
- Serve as the primary internal point of contact for waste-related needs on emergency response and remediation projects.
- Coordinate directly with project managers, field supervisors, and drivers to ensure proper packaging, labeling, transportation, and disposal.
- Review and approve Bills of Lading, hazardous waste manifests, and shipping documents for accuracy.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with qualified disposal vendors and facilities.
- Monitor vendor performance and maintain approved vendor lists by region.
- Provide real-time waste management support during spills and emergency responses.
- Coordinate rapid profiling, approvals, and disposal logistics under urgent timelines.
- Ensure compliance with DOT hazardous materials shipping requirements.
- Support transporter permitting, placarding, and documentation processes.
- Develop and deliver internal training on waste management best practices.
- Promote a culture of environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and sustainability initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in waste management or environmental compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, and DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations.
- Experience preparing waste profiles, manifests, and Bills of Lading.
- Familiarity with TSDF and landfill approval processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and waste tracking databases.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to support after‑hours emergency response coordination.
- Knowledge of Texas and Gulf Coast state waste regulations.
