Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Field Planning/Scheduling Engineer to join our client’s team at an industrial construction job site in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a full-time position, ideally suited to an individual committed to excellence and safety.
Responsibilities:
•Develop and maintain project schedules to support the execution of EPC activities in the field.
•Facilitate the preparation of project plans and schedules, providing accurate and timely status updates.
•Create detailed project schedules and monitor progress against milestones.
•Identify schedule risks and provide recommendations to optimize project timelines.
•Conduct routine site walkthroughs to gather, assess, and validate construction progress.
•Follow our client’s established standard processes, procedures, and formats required for corporate reporting and deliverables.
•Collaborate as an active member of the Project Controls Team, supporting project-specific strategies and deliverables.
•Participate in establishing initial construction plans by facilitating interactive planning sessions with key construction team members.
•Prepare drafts of network logic diagrams for segments or construction phases as applicable.
•Perform critical path analysis, including forward and backward pass assessments during schedule preparation.
•Compile and organize construction planning information, preparing schedules with different levels of detail including weekly, bi-weekly, and general look-ahead schedules.
•Support project controls and construction management efforts by carrying out earned value management (EVM) tasks.
•Utilize Primavera P6 as the primary scheduling and reporting tool.
•Assist with the resource loading process of applicable construction scopes.
•Review short-cycle schedule impacts and prepare CPM project schedule analysis.
•Collect, validate, and integrate schedule and earned value progress information from vendors and contractors.
•Conduct progress audits through routine project walkthroughs.
•Prepare tabular and graphical construction schedule timeline and resources reports as required.
•Develop alternatives to accommodate project changes and shifting priorities.
•Attend construction meetings and provide applicable scheduling reports.
•Facilitate meetings with project team members, vendors, and contractors to update and address construction schedule status and forecasts.
•Assist the home office staff with coordination, monitoring, reporting, and oversight of field activities.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
•Minimum 5 years of experience as a Planning/Scheduling Engineer in EPC projects within oil and gas, petrochemicals, or industrial gases industries. (10+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.)
•Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software.
•Proven experience in project management principles, including schedule development, resource management, and earned value management.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience working at large industrial construction sites.
•Familiarity with field-based scheduling best practices and reporting for large-scale EPC projects.
•Additional certifications in project controls, scheduling, or construction management.
Work Environment:
•Industrial construction job site located in Edmonton, Alberta.
•Requires routine site walkthrough visits, walking on uneven surfaces, and climbing of industrial construction platforms.
•Collaborative environment working with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors.
•Use of scheduling software and standard construction safety equipment as required.
