The IT Technician – Mine Site is responsible for providing on-site IT and communications support for mine operations. This role includes installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems, Starlink satellite internet, and CCTV/camera systems across offices and mine site facilities. The technician ensures reliable connectivity, system uptime, and secure operations in a remote and safety-critical environment.
- Provide on-site technical support for office and mine site personnel
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and operating system issues
- Manage user accounts, access rights, and permissions
- Support Microsoft 365, email, and collaboration tools
- Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi networks
- Set up and support Starlink satellite internet systems, including dish installation, alignment, testing, and troubleshooting
- Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues
- Assist with structured cabling, switches, routers, and access points
- Install, configure, and maintain CCTV and IP camera systems for offices and mine site areas
- Configure NVRs/DVRs, storage, and remote access
- Perform routine checks to ensure cameras are operational and aligned
- Troubleshoot camera, power, and network-related issues
- Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and backups
- Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, camera layouts, and IT assets
- Log and track incidents, service requests, and resolutions
- Work in compliance with mine site safety standards and procedures
- Conduct work in accordance with WHS/OHS and environmental policies
- Participate in site inductions and safety meetings
- Qualification in IT, networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience providing IT support in remote, industrial, or mine site environments
- Hands-on experience with Starlink or satellite communication systems
- Experience installing and maintaining CCTV/IP camera systems
- Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic networking
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in remote locations- IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar)
