Expanded Solutions is seeking a technically minded, customer-focused Technical Sales Representative to grow and support our expanded metal and precision manufactured product lines. This role blends consultative selling with hands-on technical problem solving - translating customer requirements into manufacturable solutions, coordinating with production and quality, and building long-term accounts through responsiveness and trust.
- Own and grow accounts through consistent communication, quoting support, and active follow-ups.
- Build relationships with technical knowledge of the product.
- Provide fast, accurate responses to customer RFQ's, including lead times, material options, and engineering solutions.
- Maintain documentation of activity in the CRM.
- Raw and finished goods inventory management.
- Interpret customer prints, specs, and performance requirements and recommend appropriate materials, expanded metal patterns & tolerances plus potential finishes, packaging, and logistics requirements.
- Collaborate with the rest of the sales team to confirm delivery times.
- Have the ability to identify better customer outcomes ( yield improvement, alternate designs based on customer needs, and tolerances).
- Ability to accurately generate job sheets based on ASTM specifications.
- Assist in doing inventory of both raw material and finished goods.
- Prepare quotes and proposals.
- Negotiate pricing, within authority; understand when we need to improve it as needed.
- Track quotes, and win / loss reasons.
- Serve as the customer - facing point of contact for order status, schedule changes, and understand customer issues and deliver resolution.
- Coordinate with shipping in regards to packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements with warehouse / production teams.
- Have a good understanding of how inventory restrictions have an impact on customer delivery expectations and limitations.
- Identify new target markets and applications.
- Prospect new accounts through outreach, and referrals.
- Gather intelligence through customer feedback about competitor positioning and customer needs; provide that feedback to the leadership team so we can remain competitive.- 2+ years in business to business industrial sales, technical sales, or manufacturing account management (metal, fabrication, or similar preferred).
- Ability to read and discuss technical drawings / prints, tolerances, and basic manufacturing processes.
- Strong communication skills - able to speak confidently with operational personnel .
- Proficiency with quoting tools, spreadsheets, and CRM (Sage preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer locations.
- Experience selling or purchasing steel products.
- Familiarity with quality systems, even if not an expert.
- Practical understanding of production environments (presses, slitters, shears, stamping, packaging / warehouse flow).

This role regularly interfaces with manufacturing and warehouse operations. Occasional time on the shop floor is expected to support customer needs, quoting accuracy, and problem solving. PPE may be required during plant visits. This is strictly an office position. No remote work is required or needed.
