Job Summary
The Accounting Controller will manage all accounting functions for our construction projects, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and oversight of financial statements. Responsibilities also encompass accounts payable, accounts receivable, forecasting, and the development of financial reporting procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, strong leadership skills, and a comprehensive understanding of construction financial management. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Duties
•Accounting: Maintain and update company financial records.
•Financial Reporting: Prepare business reports, financial forecasts, and statements for executive review.
•Cash Flow Coordination: Collaborate with Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) managers to manage cash flow and implement solutions to ensure operational viability.
•Financial Monitoring: Review financial reports to identify and implement cost-reduction strategies.
•Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal requirements and maintain the company’s financial health.
•Financial Decision Support: Assist management with significant financial decisions and projects impacting the Accounting Department.
•Audit and Tax Compliance: Prepare the annual budget, generate monthly and quarterly reports, and coordinate internal audits.
•Risk Management: Monitor and manage potential financial crises, develop contingency plans and allocating necessary resources.
•Additional Duties: Oversee various functional areas, design management control instruments, and manage expenses as required.
Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
•Minimum of 3 years in accounting/controller work experience
•Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial concepts
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and senior management.
•Familiarity in accounting software (e.g., ASC 606, and Payment App AIA 702/703)
Preferred:
•Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
•In addition to the minimum of 3 years in an accounting/controller role, at least 1 year in a construction accounting role, including project accounting and job costing
•Experience in Renewable Energy Projects: Knowledge of financial management for renewable energy projects is highly preferred, including understanding of related incentives, subsidies, and regulatory frameworks.
•Bilingual (Fluent in Spanish)
