JOB PURPOSE
As the System Operator, your role will be to monitor, control, and manage EQUS’ distribution system along with handling the outage management system for EQUS’ entire Service Area.
DUTIES
•Act as the primary Operator in Charge for EQUS’ entire distribution system during the day
•Operate EQUS’ Outage Management System Software
•Act as the liaison between EQUS and EQUS’ external Call Center
•Coordinate with the Field Service Leaders for directing resources
•Coordinate and manage system operations with other Utilities
•Coordinate and manage system operations within all the departments of EQUS
•Manage and dispatch trouble and emergency calls and crews
•Monitor and control the operations of the distribution system.
•Approve, write, and direct switching programs for conditions on the distribution system for maintenance, construction, commissioning, and restoration purposes. Analyze planned and unplanned data to look for inefficiencies or area of improvement.
•Identify, initiate, explore, improvements for processes, practices, and tools.
•Monitor AMI Command Center.
•Provide and maintain system status reports, for internal and external stakeholders as necessary
REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF WORK
This position reports directly to the Operations Leader – Systems Operator
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
•Very strong computer and technology skills
•Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
•Responsible to follow EQUS’ Corporate Safety Program and implementation which includes WHMIS, First Aid and CPR Certification
•Ability to communicate with members of team and to be able to easily comprehend and follow instructions; must work well with others
•Ability to successfully complete pre-employment testing for the physical requirements of the position
•Previous experience in rural power distribution system operations an asset
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•Construction Powerline Technician Background
•Electrical Trade, Engineering Technology or education would be an asset.
•Three to five years’ experience working in the electricity delivery industry. Direct experience working in electric power distribution considered an advantage.
•AMI Command Center experience would be an asset.
•Be solutions focused and have a passion towards customer service
•Must be able to provide training to field staff and provide support as a subject matter expert.
•Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•Possess the ability to plan and prioritize in a fast-paced environment while upholding EQUS standards.
