The Shop Assistant supports daily operations of the mud logging shop by maintaining equipment, organizing inventory, assisting field personnel, and ensuring tools and materials are prepared for deployment to drilling locations. This role is essential to maintaining operational efficiency and readiness in a fast-paced oilfield environment.
- Assist in preparing and organizing mud logging units and equipment for field jobs
- Clean, inspect, and maintain sensors, gas detectors, computers, and logging tools
- Load and unload equipment for transport to and from drilling sites
- Track and manage inventory of parts, tools, PPE, and supplies
- Receive deliveries and verify shipments against purchase orders
- Perform minor repairs and assist technicians with equipment setup and troubleshooting
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
- Follow company safety policies and oilfield safety standards
- Assist with documentation, labeling, and data organization as needed
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous oilfield, mechanical, or warehouse experience preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment- Valid driver’s license preferred
- Willingness to work flexible hours when equipment turnaround is urgent
- Shop and yard setting with exposure to outdoor weather conditions
- Occasional travel to rig locations may be required
- Standing, bending, lifting, and moving equipment regularly
- Familiarity with mud logging systems and gas detection equipment preferred
- Basic computer skills (data entry, equipment software checks)
