Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Reservoir Engineering Technician to support our engineering team with reserves management, economic analysis, and technical data reporting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and contributing to cross-functional projects in a dynamic environment.
Primary Responsibilities
•Demonstrate a commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and the Discovery Core Values in all aspects of the job.
•Maintain and update the Aries reserves database, including hierarchy and change tracking
•Extract, analyze, and validate data for reserve calculations and reporting
•Prepare internal and external reserve reports, work with banks and third-party auditors
•Generate summary reports at reservoir, field, and asset levels
•Identify and implement process improvements in reserves workflows
•Assist with economic evaluations for budgeting, acquisitions, and portfolio management
•Perform quality control on data, including monthly and daily production, interests, etc.
•Integrate new assets into Aries
•Compile and analyze technical and financial data from internal and third-party sources
•Support engineering studies with data gathering, dashboards, and preliminary analysis
•Generate monthly performance tracking reports and ensure data accuracy
•Assist in preparing technical reports, evaluations, and presentations
Education and Experience
•A bachelor’s degree in a technical, analytical, or quantitative field (e.g., Math, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance), or equivalent practical experience through work, training, or self-directed learning
•5+ years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities through a combination of professional, academic, volunteer, or other applicable experiences
•Familiarity with the Permian Basin or similar resource preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
•Commitment to Discovery Natural Resources’ core values and job expectations
•Proficiency with ARIES software for reserves and economic analysis, including database management and cash flow modeling required
•Advanced skills with Microsoft Access and SQL databases, with the ability to build, maintain, and extract information from databases, are strongly preferred
•Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including complex formulas, tables, and data visualizations
•Experience with energy industry software to include PowerBI, Spotfire, ARIES, Enersight, WellView, SiteView, ProCount Suites, and AFE Navigator
•Strong understanding of reserves databases and knowledge of petroleum reserves concepts
•Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
•Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills
•Ability to communicate regularly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, co-workers, third-party auditors, and banks
•Ability to thrive in both an independent and collaborative work environment and have exceptional skills in managing multiple demands, including prioritizing deadlines
•Ability to identify process improvements and utilize programming skills to enhance functionality
Compensation and Benefits
•Estimated pay range: $90,000 – $130,000 (depending upon experience of the successful candidate)
