The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for a variety of skilled duties such as: water and wastewater facility maintenance, pump and motor maintenance, lift station maintenance, valve maintenance, facility general building maintenance, controls troubleshooting, operating machinery, loading and unloading vehicles, cleaning equipment and facilities and the maintenance, repair and inventory of tools in accordance with all safety guidelines. This position involves a blend of hands-on technical work and analytical problem-solving to diagnose, repair, and maintain pump and motor facility systems, ensuring they meet operational standards and efficiency. By conducting regular inspections and implementing preventative maintenance strategies, facility technicians play an essential role in minimizing downtime and extending the lifespan of pump equipment.
· Repair, construct, and maintains water distribution and wastewater facility systems;
· Troubleshoots and diagnoses alarm calls and completes repairs to system infrastructure; including leaks, blockages, alarms, modifications, etc.
· Hires and coordinates with subcontractors in order to complete repairs;
· Cleans, organizes and maintains facilities, tools and equipment;
· Abides by all TCEQ, EPA, OSHA and all company safety protocols when completing work;
· Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment as required;
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Facility Services Supervisor;
- Perform routine maintenance on various types of pumps, including centrifugal, diaphragm, and submersible pumps, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely;
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues within pump systems using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment;
- Replace or repair faulty pump components such as seals, bearings, motors, and impellers to prevent leaks and ensure optimal performance;
- Install new pump systems according to manufacturer specifications and District requirements, ensuring proper alignment and functionality;
- Test and adjust pump systems to meet specific pressure and flow requirements, documenting performance metrics for compliance and quality assurance;
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers on the operation and maintenance of their pump systems, ensuring they understand how to achieve optimal performance; and
- Fabricate and modify parts as needed using welding and machining tools to ensure a perfect fit and function within the pump system.
· One to five years of experience in construction or maintenance of water, wastewater or similar work environment.
· Proficient in the use of materials, tools and equipment commonly used in a water utility maintenance environment.
· Ability to work on-call on a rotating schedule Friday-Monday
1. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
2. Ability to safely operate machinery and vehicles.
