As an Environmental Safety Manager you will be responsible for the development, implementation, promotion, monitoring and assessment of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and systems. You will ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and company EHS regulatory requirements, policies, procedures and standards. You will work with all pertinent external agencies and organizations related to EHS procedures and regulations. You will be responsible for providing leadership to drive continuous improvements in plant safety and environmental culture to ensure that Crimson Renewable Energy exceeds the minimum requirements for regulatory compliance
.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Maintain compliance with regulatory reporting requirements for local, regional, state, federal and corporate entities and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental rules and regulations. Including, but not limited to, regulatory permit submittals and renewals, liaison between plant operations and regulatory agencies, assisting as Emergency Response coordinator.
Reviews all work Permits and JSA and reviews safety protocols with contractors and other departments.
Develop and review with other department managers plant environmental profiles, regulatory calendars, and other routine plant reporting requirements.
Coordinate and carry out Monthly Safety Meetings and Quarterly Safety Committee Meetings. Conduct a preventative maintenance inspection program, safety compliance audits, and new employee/contractor safety orientation.
Reviews and maintains the environmental health and safety budget and makes recommendations as needed.
Regulates standards including formal training, safety awareness, recordkeeping and periodic assessments as required by regulatory agencies and/or facility needs.
Maintains related records and performs analysis to identify trends and causes.
Review and conduct any investigations on incidents, audits and near misses. Reviewing findings with other management and HR when necessary.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), environmental engineering or related field; or equivalent experience in an industry position preferred
- California Regulatory Experience preferred
- Some Operational experience is desirable
- 5+ years of EHS work experience in a manufacturing environment- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment
- Exceptional computer skills
- Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS statutory requirements is essential
- Ability to design and deliver training to all levels of the organization
- Available to work beyond the normal work schedule as necessary to fulfill responsibilities
- Knowledge of Workers Comp administration and claims procedures, a plus
- Applicable certifications, a plus
