We are hiring a
Senior Bookkeeper / Project Accountantwho is exceptionally detail-oriented, financially sharp, highly organized, and relentlessly reliable. This hybrid role supports
daily financial operationswhile also acting as a
project financial controlleracross multiple infrastructure programs.
This individual must confidently operate within a
multi-entity, cross-border (Canada/US)structure and serve as a financial partner to the project teams. They will monitor budgets, flag margin erosion, control committed costs, track every PO and purchase, and lead weekly project financial reviews with Project Managers.

This is not clerical bookkeeping. This is financial command and control for a high-performance EPCM/project-delivery organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Accounting, Job Costing & Performance Monitoring• Set up jobs, cost codes, budgets across multiple Canadian and U.S. entities
• Monitor budgets vs. actuals and proactively flag cost drift and margin erosion
• Prepare WIP schedules, profitability snapshots, and monthly reporting
• Lead weekly financial review meetings with PMs to ensure alignment and accountability
• Track committed costs, actuals, accruals, and forecast adjustments
• Reconcile project expenses weekly; resolve issues immediately
• Support progress billing, holdbacks, changes, retainage, lien releases
• Build and refine financial tracking tools for PMs and leadership
• Monitor, track, verify, and reconcile all POs and purchases
• Ensure proper job coding, cost categorization, and allocation
• Work closely with Procurement to validate pricing, receipts, and supporting documentation
• Track open POs, commitments, and vendor exposure
• Reinforce PO discipline and create improved workflows across the business
• Maintain a clean, auditable digital record system
• Support month-end close with speed, accuracy, and completeness
• Prepare spend analysis and financial insights for leadership
• Support CFO/Controller on cost containment initiatives and working capital planning
• Validate time entry, job costing, overtime, burden, and allocations
• Ensure labor costing ties correctly into WIP and project performance
6. Systems, Reporting & Financial Best Practices
• Strong Spectrum ERP capability (or ability to master rapidly)
• Advanced Excel modeling: pivots, lookups, multi-sheet reconciling, dashboards
• Improve templates, workflows, documentation standards, and reporting processes
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in financial operations
• A natural leader even without the title
• Assertive but professional when holding PMs accountable
• A builder of systems, not just a follower of systems
• Calm under pressure and steady during deadlines
• Relentless in tracking, monitoring, and closing financial loops
• Proud of delivering accuracy and value to the organization
• 5–10+ years bookkeeping or project accounting (construction/EPCM required)
• Experience tracking budgets vs. actuals and margin erosion
• Strong understanding of project controls in an infrastructure environment
