The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting production through CAD design, fixture development, and CNC/laser programming in a contract manufacturing environment. This role bridges engineering and shop floor execution, ensuring efficient, repeatable, and high-quality manufacturing processes.
- Create and modify 3D models, flat patterns, and drawings using SolidWorks.
- Design and develop production fixtures, jigs, and tooling to improve throughput and quality.
- Program and optimize CNC laser cutting equipment (nesting, cut paths, parameters)
- Troubleshoot laser programs, tooling, and production issues on the shop floor.
- Interpret customer prints and engineering drawings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, workflow improvements).
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation for programs, fixtures, and processes.
- Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred.
- OR 3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing (steel, fabrication, or service center environment)
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Experience with laser programming
- Fixture/tooling design experience
- Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
- Blueprint reading
- Familiarity with nesting software and CNC programming concepts
- Ability to work independently and cross functionally
