The Underground Dry Utilities Pipelayer is responsible for installing and maintaining underground conduit systems for dry utilities such as electrical, communication, and fiber optic lines. This position involves trenching, conduit installation, utility locating, backfilling, and ensuring compliance with safety and construction standards.
- Install underground conduit systems for electrical, telecommunications, and other dry utilities.
- Lay PVC, HDPE, or other types of conduit at specified grades and alignments.
- Assist with trenching and excavation using hand tools or in coordination with equipment operators.
- Read and interpret construction plans, utility drawings, and blueprints.
- Ensure proper installation per local codes, utility company specifications, and jobsite requirements.
- Set handholes, pull boxes, vaults, and pedestals as required.
- Coordinate with inspectors, foremen, and utility representatives as needed.
- Use locators to avoid conflicts with existing underground utilities.
- Perform site cleanup and restoration after installation.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in underground dry utilities or related pipelaying work.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with dry utility materials, construction methods, and utility company standards.
- Skills: Ability to read and understand construction drawings and grade stakes; operate trenching tools; and safely use construction equipment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in trenches and confined spaces, and withstand outdoor conditions.- Certifications (Preferred):
- OSHA 10 or 30
- First Aid/CPR
- Competent Person Training (trenching & excavation)
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
