The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of our diverse set of machinery and heavy equipment.
CCI Industrial Services provides quality-driven, cost-effective construction, maintenance, industrial cleaning, power generation, and transportation services to support resource development companies in Alaska and the lower 48 states. - Conduct routine and scheduled maintenance of heavy equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs or replace defective parts.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules and repairs.
- Adhere to all safety policies and regulations in the workplace.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance machine reliability and performance.
- Provide technical support and training to other maintenance staff.
- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift, on call or attending meetings.
- Demonstrate professional skills and abilities.
- Initiate problem solving when faced with logistical challenges.
- Communicate daily status of current projects support to your supervisor.
- Interacts directly with the Superintendents and Supervisors, to ensure that objectives are achieved, potential problems identified, and corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain 100% "Safety Standards and Accountability" in all areas or mandatory/regulatory which include:
- Maintain compliance with required HSE Training.
- Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
- Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
- Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements, Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives. The FS1 Facility Operator has STOP work authority.
- Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
- Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
- Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
- Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
- Self-directed with minimal supervision
- Perform other duties as required.
- Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations.
- Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
- Skilled in interpersonal communication.
- Ability to work closely in a small shop
- Basic computer knowledge, including the ability to take online training, email general reports and use Microsoft
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with heavy equipment and diagnostic scan tools is required. CAT ET/SIS and Cummins insight.
- 3 year's verifiable Heavy mechanic or combination of mechanic/training experience.
- NSTC card
- CDL License is preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Tier 4 emission systems.
- 3 to 5 years' experience working as a mechanic with automotive or heavy equipment is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. - MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
- LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
- RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
