Job Overview
Bay Line Construction is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Overhead General Foreman. This role is responsible for managing and supervising overhead distribution construction, maintenance, and storm response operations. The Overhead General Foreman ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company goals, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
This position provides leadership to foremen, crews, and support staff while coordinating closely with the Operations team, Project Management, Safety & Training, and customer representatives.
- Manage daily overhead operations, including construction, maintenance, and system improvements.
- Supervise and support crew foremen, ensuring safe work practices, productivity, quality, and compliance with company policies.
- Serve as leadership support during storm restoration events; coordinate crews, equipment, logistics, and reporting when assigned as point of contact.
- Analyze job packages and work orders to assist in coordinating scheduling, materials, equipment, traffic control, permits, and locates prior to execution.
- Assist with coordinating switching, clearances, tagging, and zones of protection in accordance with company and utility procedures.
- Identify and resolve field issues, constructability concerns, design conflicts, and safety hazards.
- Assist in performing safety audits, QA/QC reviews, and incident investigations.
- Review and approve crew time sheets, labor, and equipment charges to ensure job‑cost accuracy.
- Assist with change order identification, documentation, coordination, and submittal.
- Support OMS/DMS coordination for planned outages, switching, restoration, and system cutovers.
- Ensure accurate documentation including job briefings, switching logs, redlines/as‑builts, and closeout reports are completed.
- Train, coach, and evaluate employees; participate in performance reviews and recommend merit actions as appropriate.- Preferred: 5+ years of experience in overhead and underground distribution construction and/or maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of energized and de‑energized work practices, switching, clearances, tagging, and safety procedures.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in field operations.
- Ability to read prints, understand basic electrical theory, and analyze distribution system work.
- Working knowledge of GIS, GWD, Outage Request systems and standard office software preferred.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
