We are seeking an experienced Automation Group Sales & Project Manager with a strong background in automation machine building, quoting, and customer-facing project leadership. This role requires someone who excelled on the shop floor, understands automation equipment inside-out, and can manage projects from concept to completion.
As a key member of our Automation division, you will:
- Lead automation projects from cradle to grave—quoting through final delivery.
- Prepare estimates based on blueprints, site visits, sample parts, and customer input.
- Oversee project execution to ensure quality, efficiency, and budget alignment.
- Build strong customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, trades, engineers, and shop staff.
- Recommend optimal machining and fabrication methods for each project.
- Support emergency repairs, rebuilds, breakdowns, and reverse engineering work.
- Technologist diploma, Trade Certificate, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience working with automation equipment. - 10+ years of automation project management experience.- Hands-on background in automation assembly building is essential.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and controls during commissioning.
- Design experience considered a valuable asset.
- Proven ability to quote, plan, and manage full project lifecycles.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in managing automation projects from concept through design, manufacturing, build, and customer acceptance.
- Ability to conceptualize and estimate new automation projects and ECNs.
- Strong understanding of machining and fabrication practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, MS Project.
- Exceptional multitasking ability and attention to detail.
- Serve as the primary customer contact throughout each project’s lifecycle.
- Manage quotations, ECNs, design reviews, run-offs, commissioning, and warranty follow-up.
- Lead internal coordination for design, manufacturing, assembly, development, and commissioning.
- Create and maintain project schedules, communicating changes proactively.
- Manage project budgets, billing, and financial documentation.
- Participate directly in mechanical design review to ensure alignment with quoted scope.
- Provide continuous communication with internal teams: Division Manager, Design, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Leads.
- Maintain complete project documentation in hard copy and electronic formats.
- Coordinate final customer documentation packages.
- Conduct project reviews and lessons-learned sessions.
- Generate BWM work orders as needed.
- Participate in weekly Work-in-Progress (WIP) meetings.
