Position Overview
The Craft Safety position will play a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment at project sites. You will work with the Project Safety Team in implementing BUILD’s Safety Culture and Policies. You will interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Essential Functions
•Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members
•Assist project management team in developing and executing site-specific safety programs and activities
•Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level
•Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc.
•Conduct work area safety audits
•Conduct or assist with major incident analysis
•Record, monitor, and analyze Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics
•Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements
•Monitor and review trade partner work plans and activities for safety concerns
•Assist with onsite injury management and case management
•Monitor Return to Work and Modified Duty assignments
•Assist with the organization and implementation of project safety celebrations and recognition/reward programs
•Participate in and contribute to project planning and hazard analysis
•Provide resources for safety-related information
•Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures
•Serve as a resource for safety issues or concerns for all project team members
•Attend and/or chair safety meetings
•Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and protective wear
•Maintain project site Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Qualifications
•Previous related internship preferred
•Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
•Proficient in Microsoft Office and pertinent safety-related software programs
•Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
•Ability to interpret and communicate company policies to team members and outside parties
•Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
•Highly knowledgeable in all aspects of construction
•OSHA 30 or ability to attain within 30 days of hire
•Strong communication skills both written and oral
•Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills
•Must have a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a security background screening
•CPR/First Aid qualified or ability to become certified within 30 days of hire
Working Conditions
•100% travel required. Projects are nationally based.
•Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
•Office Environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
•Exposure to all forms of weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry, humid, windy) for the entire workday.
