Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our Die Shop team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining and fabrication, with expertise in creating dies for various manufacturing processes. This role requires a keen eye for detail, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work with various materials and machinery.
- Programs and operates CNC lathes, milling machines, and EDM wire cutters using FANCU controls and CNC coding to produce tools, dies, copper coolers from blanks, and graphite mandrils, ensuring repeatability and concentricity.
- Manual machining - operates manual lathes, milling machines and drill presses for custom components, such as coring graphite blanks or machining ASTM E8 tensile samples using traditional milling, turning and grinding techniques.
- Verifies component accuracy with micrometers and calipers, ensures compliance with production and ASTM standards, and documents details on work orders for foundry handover.
- Makes molds for continuous cast bronze.
- Reads blueprints of the molds to be machined.
- The majority of what is machined used is graphite.
- 2-3 years of experience operating CNC mills/lathes
- Knowledge of manual machining
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to read inside and outside micrometers; depth gauges, decimals/fractions.
- JVS/Trade school is desired.
- Exposure to graphite is a plus.
- Working with non-ferrous metal is a plus.
