Lift Maintenance and Operations Supervisor – Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC)
The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) in Idaho Springs is a state-of-the-art cable car system connecting visitors to Colorado’s rich mining heritage, scenic mountain trailheads at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, and sweeping views of the Colorado Rockies from Miner’s Point—a vibrant recreational complex featuring dining, an amphitheater, and year-round events and activities for all ages.
We are seeking anexperienced and dynamic Lift Maintenance and Operations Supervisor to lead safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Mighty Argo Cable Car system. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee all aspects of lift maintenance, daily operations, and regulatory compliance with the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB). You’ll guide a team of skilled Lift Mechanics and Lift Operator Attendants, championing a culture of safety, precision, and continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of operational readiness and guest service.

- Supervise all daily lift operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and oversee daily opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor and control operating parameters, performance data, and system logs.
- Coordinate with the General Manager, Lift and Facilities Manager, and the Lift team to ensure consistent adherence to operating standards and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely operational documentation, including lift logs, inspection reports, and incident records.
- Oversee the preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of the gondola system.
- Develop, implement, and manage annual maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with CPTSB and ANSI B77.1 standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, inspection logs, and compliance reports for CPTSB and ANSI B77.1 requirements.
- Manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and inventory controls to ensure accurate tracking of procurement, work orders, tools, spare parts, and supplies, supporting uninterrupted and safe lift operations.
- Coordinate and supervise all scheduled maintenance, annual load testing, tower inspections, haul rope assessments, major inspections, and other required technical evaluations, ensuring full compliance with CPTSB requirements.
- Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of required service intervals and documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing on-site leadership for urgent repairs and operational disruptions.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely repairs and minimal downtime.
- Work closely with teams and contractors to plan and execute capital improvement projects, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
- Ensure all lift operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board (CPTSB) standards.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, maintenance standards, emergency response plans, and policies related to weather closures, load/unload procedures, and guest behaviors.
- Conduct daily safety briefings, regular safety meetings, training sessions, drills, audits, inspections, and operational checklist reviews to reinforce best practices, ensure operational readiness, maintain compliance, and verify staff competency.
- Perform risk assessments and maintain a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards, equipment failures, mechanical risks, and environmental hazards.
- Partner with risk management and operations leadership to investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate closely with the General Manager, the Lift and Facilities Manager, and the Lift team on mechanical checks, incident response, and operational shutdowns.
- Supervise and mentor Lift Mechanics and Lift Operator Attendants, promoting professional development and cross-training, ensuring a high-performing, safety-focused, and cohesive team.
- Oversee daily staff scheduling, attendance, and task assignments to ensure adequate coverage of Lift Mechanics and Lift Operator Attendants.
- Provide technical training, competency assessments, performance evaluations, conduct regular check-ins, and develop professional growth plans for Lift Mechanics and Lift Operator Attendants to ensure they meet technical and safety standards.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and accountability within the Lift team, achieving seamless communication and problem-solving.
- Build a culture of accountability, safety, guest service, and continuous improvement across all levels of the Lift team.
- Support the delivery of an exceptional guest experience through safe, courteous, and efficient operations.
- Communicate effectively with guests and provide guidance to staff regarding lift status, closures, and safety information.
- Collaborate with the guest services team to ensure clear communication during weather events, maintenance periods, or service interruptions.
- Represent the company professionally during interactions with regulators, vendors, and community partners.
- Collaborate with the General Manager, the Lift and Facilities Manager, and the Lift team to align operations with business and guest service goals.
- Serve as a contact for CPTSB inspections, audits, and regulatory correspondence.
- Participate in planning for expansion, new infrastructure, or system modifications.
- Support the delivery of an exceptional guest experience through safe, courteous, and efficient operations.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in ski area, tramway, or lift maintenance and operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of CPTSB regulations, ANSI B77.1 standards, and aerial tramway/gondola maintenance practices.
- Proficiency with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or digital work order tracking software.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals, interpret schematics, and complete required documentation.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working at heights and in variable mountain weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of emergency evacuation and rescue protocols; must be able to respond rapidly to operational or safety emergencies following established procedures.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical or electrical systems preferred.
- Experience coordinating capital projects or working with engineering consultants.
- Completion of recognized lift maintenance, aerial lift operations, or safety training programs (e.g., CPTSB, NSAA, or manufacturer-certified courses)
- Experience managing teams in ski resorts, gondola systems, or mountain recreation environments.
- CDL preferred.
- Salary Range: $68,000–$90,392 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Eligible for annual performance-based bonus.
