ACES is a nationwide energy management company that helps its owners and customers buy, sell, and manage energy more efficiently and with less risk. ACES began operations in 1999 with a focus on supporting 4 organizations. Today, ACES provides services to over 50 organizations consisting of electric cooperatives, investor-owned utilities, municipalities, public power agencies, independent power producers, renewable energy providers, industrial customers, and financial institutions.
Since 1999, ACES has grown from 33 employees to over 300. This growth has presented career opportunities, new challenges, and a dynamic, energetic work environment.
To be eligible for the ACES internship program, students must meet the following criteria.
- Develop opportunities to enhance ACES’ legal and/or corporate compliance processes and procedures.
- Review and update legal and corporate compliance documents and processes.
- Draft and disseminate internal legal and compliance communications (i.e., newsletters, email alerts, webpage, training, etc.)
- Assist with compliance investigations and review of compliance matters.
- Assist with legal/compliance research and the preparation of memoranda and reports.
- Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position.
- Any additional responsibilities assigned by management.
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Jurisprudence degree program.
- Must be pursuing a degree directly related to the internship.
- Have availability to complete the 12-week required session.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, research, investigative, and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Visio, and Word.
