The Mill Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining milling machinery to process raw materials into finished products, ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety throughout the production process.
· Operates Barite milling system in compliance with specifications and standards to maintain product integrity.
· Operates Barite milling system to the process parameters utilizing procedures and instructions.
· Set up machines according to production specifications and adjust settings for optimal performance.
· Monitor equipment during operation to ensure consistent output and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
· Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications.
· Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep machines in good working order.
· Document production data and report any deviations or malfunctions.
· Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and maintain workflow efficiency.
· Adheres to all MSHA, OSHA, and ADO workplace safety regulations.
· Ensures loading of the correct raw materials to the correct bins.
· Monitoring KPIs and optimizing the process within the parameters set.
· Determines if immediate maintenance action is required and acts appropriately.
· Works in conjunction with laboratory staff to monitor, maintain, and ensures product remains within target specifications.
· Supports the Quality department in the collection preparation and testing of samples when required.
· Support the maintenance department and work with them when required.
· Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
· Ensures correct and safe operation of equipment.
· Attends daily meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime.
· Safely operate, power tools, hoists, and hand tools.
· Maintain good housekeeping conditions in all working areas.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
· Willingness to work in a heavy industrial environment that may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and physically demanding.
· Must be able to hear and see warning horns and other hazards.
· Able to work with HMI systems (especially grinding plant)
· Performs a wide range of essential duties requiring heavy lifting, awkward work positions, climbing ladders, and frequent movement both within and outside multi-floor buildings.
· Understands electrical equipment; contactors, breakers, motors, encoders, sensors, instruments, and LOTO procedures.
· Experience with forklifts, wheel loaders, and various mobile equipment a plus.
· Team player and willing to work with minimal supervision.
· Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions of the assigned work.
· Covers off-shift calls as needed. Attends work regularly and reliably.
· Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to respond to call-outs as needed to fulfill business objectives and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.
· Must be willing to take responsibility for the team members when necessary.
