Job Summary
We are seeking a self-directed and innovative Product Engineer to join our Product Management team, with a dedicated focus on
cutouts and arrestersserving the electrical utility market. This role bridges product expertise, application engineering, and customer support. The ideal candidate will help guide new product development, provide technical field support, assist with product selection and quotations, and ensure compatibility with customer needs and industry standards. A familiarity with high-voltage equipment and the utility environment is preferred.
Job Duties
- Serve as a technical expert on cutouts and arresters, supporting internal teams and customers with application guidance and product recommendations
- Help initiate and support new product development projects based on customer requirements and utility market trends
- Provide field support to troubleshoot product issues, evaluate performance in utility applications, and recommend solutions
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and product management to support customer inquiries, technical quotations, and product selection efforts
- Assist in the development of engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation (e.g., datasheets, installation guides, application notes)
- Cross-reference competitor products to ensure accurate, equivalent product recommendations and support sales conversion
- Define technical requirements and application conditions to guide engineering design and validation for protective equipment
- Support lab testing and field trials of arresters and cutouts; gather feedback and performance data to guide product improvement
- Monitor industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, IEC) and utility specifications to ensure product compliance and competitive positioning
- Collaborate across engineering, sales, quality, and customer service to resolve technical challenges and enhance the customer experience
Experience and Education
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) and generation of technical drawings and documentation
- Willingness to travel to support customer visits, field investigations, or utility meetings

- Direct experience working with or supporting cutouts, surge arresters, or related high-voltage protection devices
- Familiarity with electrical utility grid infrastructure and T&D system components
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (IEEE & IEC)
- Experience supporting quotation processes and technical product cross-referencing against competitor offerings
- Exposure to field troubleshooting, product evaluations, or site audits in a utility context
