Field EHS Representative
Location: Project Site – Texas

Purpose
Virtus Renewables is seeking a proactive and field-oriented Field EHS Representative to support the safe execution of solar operations at a utility-scale project site. This role is vital in delivering our safety-first mission, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a strong field safety culture across diverse geographic environments.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on construction safety experience in the renewable energy or infrastructure space, with the ability to mentor crews, conduct field audits, and serve as a key on-site safety leader. Success in this role will be driven by field presence, coaching ability, and a commitment to ensuring that every worker returns home safely every day.
Field Safety & Oversight
•Maintain high visibility on site, engaging directly with field crews and supervisors
•Conduct daily safety walks, job hazard analyses (JHAs), equipment checks, and observation reporting.
•Lead and participate in morning meetings, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs to reinforce safe behaviors.
•Support implementation of site-specific safety plans (SSSPs) and safe work procedures.
Compliance & Reporting
•Ensure project compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA, EPA, and applicable local safety codes.
•Document and escalate unsafe conditions, near misses, and violations in accordance with Virtus protocols.
•Maintain site logs, audit reports, and training documentation.
•Assist with internal and external HSE audits.
Training & Culture
•Deliver on-site safety orientations and refresher training.
•Provide one-on-one coaching to team members on safe behaviors and expectations.
•Promote a proactive, people-centered safety culture that values communication, recognition, and accountability.
Incident Response & Case Management
•Respond to incidents and assist with investigations and root cause analysis.
•Work closely with leadership and corporate HSE to implement corrective actions and lessons learned.
•Support case management for injuries or incidents, including documentation and follow-up.
Required Skills and Expertise
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of construction safety experience in utility-scale solar or general construction environments. Strong understanding of OSHA 1926 standards and jobsite safety practices.
Safety Knowledge: Ability to conduct field inspections, JHAs, incident reporting, and work closely with field teams on hazard recognition and mitigation.
Leadership: Comfortable serving as a field leader and safety role model. Experience mentoring or training field personnel is a plus.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and documentation skills. Able to communicate clearly with trades, foremen, and site leadership.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with safety management systems, inspection tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in mobile safety apps or tablets is preferred.
Mobility: Must be able to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods in outdoor conditions.
Education and Certifications
Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent field experience considered.
Certifications:
•OSHA 30-Hour (Construction).
•CPR/First Aid/AED Certification preferred.
•Safety-related credentials such as CHST, STS-C, or equivalent are a plus.
License: Valid driver’s license required.
