Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team at a leading steel mill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities, ensuring efficient operations, maintaining safety standards, and driving continuous improvements in our manufacturing processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in steel production and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
•Production Supervision: Oversee the daily operations of the steel mill, including production lines, equipment, and personnel, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
•Quality Control: Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications, and work with the quality assurance team to resolve any quality issues.
•Safety Management: Monitor safety practices to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, enforce company safety policies, and lead initiatives to reduce accidents and injuries.
•Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of machine operators, technicians, and other staff, ensuring effective coordination and communication.
•Process Optimization: Continuously analyze production processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, productivity improvements, and waste reduction.
•Inventory and Material Management: Ensure proper materials are available for production, monitor inventory levels, and coordinate with purchasing to manage supply chain needs.
•Troubleshooting: Lead problem-solving efforts in response to equipment failures or production delays, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution.
•Compliance: Ensure that operations are compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental impact, safety, and labor laws.
•Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on production performance, issues, and progress on initiatives.
Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. Relevant certifications in operations management or safety are a plus.
•Experience: 3+ years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environment.
•Technical Skills: Knowledge of steel production processes, equipment, and industrial machinery.
•Leadership: Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing and motivating teams to achieve production goals.
•Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on improving efficiency and resolving operational challenges.
•Safety Focus: Experience with industrial safety protocols and a commitment to creating a safe working environment.
•Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
•Bilingual Spanish language skills and scrap yard experience are preferred.
