Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all areas of the production process, including the Manufacturing, Welding and Shipping and Receiving departments. The Production Supervisor will ensure performance standards are achieved, or exceeded, while focusing on efficient and safe operating methods and adhering to adequate quality standards and ensuring process optimization.
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of daily production operations to ensure performance standards are achieved, including meeting production schedules and targets within the budget and quality specifications.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all production, welding, and warehouse processes.
- Troubleshoot areas of concern, identify, and collaborate with production and management team for efficiency improvements and/or quality of work/products.
- Collect, input, and retrieve relevant production and personnel data (i.e., downtime, production outputs).
- Assist Quality and Engineering departments in the research, trial/development, selection of new processes and equipment to improve the production process.
- Oversee care and use of company tools and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Assist and monitor cross training of production operators to ensure all individuals are adept in various areas of the production process.
- Responsible for approving/denying leave requests and arranging shift coverage for employee vacation requests, sick calls, and other time off, as applicable.
- Responsible for arranging overtime coverage, when necessary.
- Report and communicate daily shift summary to Production Manager, containing pertinent information, such as production issues, product completion during shift and health and safety concerns.
- Provide performance support to employees in coherence with applicable management staff and Human Resources, as necessary.
- Provide clear direction and motivate team to individual and group success.
- Communicate questions, concerns, and suggestions at all departmental and management levels, as applicable, and be responsive to employee concerns.
- Assist in the interviewing process and assessing prospective employees, as necessary.
- Follow and enforce all Company and legislative health and safety policies and requirements, always ensuring compliance.
- Provide comprehensive health and safety orientation, production training and refresher training, as necessary.
· Three to five years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing team environment an asset.
· Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, meet tight deadlines and effectively follow-up.
· Process-focused with a concern for continuous improvement.
· Intermediate level computer skills using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel).
· Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Manufacturing regulations and Supervisory related roles and responsibilities preferred.
· Valid First Aid and CPR certification would be an asset.
· Valid Joint Health and Safety Committee certification would be an asset.
