PLEASE NOTE: Clark Regional Wastewater District is recruiting for one full-time position (1.0 FTE), which may be filled at either the Accountant or Senior Accountant level, depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The Accountant provides professional-level accounting and finance support, including participation in the preparation of various manual and automated financial reports, as well as those required for year-end closing and audits. And can perform a majority of the accounting functions. Performs high-level accounting functions, including the preparation of financial statements and reviewing accounting work performed by other staff, such as accounts payable, payroll, utility billings, and adjustments. This position provides support for the District's annual budget, Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and audit processes.
This is the second, journey-level position in the Accountant classification series. The Accountant performs skilled and professional duties that require a depth of knowledge and experience with all major accounting functions, demonstrating an understanding of their interrelationship and impact on the District's financial systems and records. This position can independently perform accounting functions, resolve routine discrepancies, and balance accounts. The Accountant works with moderate independence under general supervision of the Finance Manager. Work is typically regular and recurring, with occasional variations. The position is distinguished from the entry-level position by the level of experience, overall job knowledge and skills, the complexity of the work performed, and the degree of independence. Actively assists and supports the Finance Manager in the preparation of a variety of District expenditure, revenue, budget status and other financial and management reports. Assists in compiling, verifying and preparing the financial data, tables and schedules of the following reports:
Prepares, maintains, and verifies complex records. Audits financial records for accuracy and proper reporting. Supports the monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger (GL), reconciling and balancing subsidiary ledgers (GL) and analyzing and adjusting accounts and ledgers as needed. Summarizes details in the GL, electronic files or other forms of record keeping for managerial, budget and reporting purposes.
Solves most problems concerning their functional area, which may include purchase cards, payables, capital projects, receivables, and payroll. With guidance, may handle more complex and non-routine determinations and computations using established rules, regulations and policies.
Other Duties. Perform specialized accounting studies, as assigned.May respond to questions from employees, customers, agencies or vendors, providing accurate information and explaining policies, procedures and internal controls. Follow District regulations, codes, policies, practices, and management directives. Inspect the working area and maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment, including performing general housekeeping duties. Follow occupational health and safety policies and procedures. Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance, be dependable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work is performed in an office environment, requiring strength and mobility for this setting, including prolonged sitting, data entry and use of a computer. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with corrected vision sufficient for use of computers. Regularly required to talk and hear in English. Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, and/or move objects safely up to 25 lbs.
The Accountant maintains regular contact, both in-person and via phone and email, with District staff, other agency staff, and vendors. Contact with these parties typically involves clarifying information, resolving discrepancies or explaining District accounting procedures or policies.
Received: The Accountant works with moderate independence under the general supervision of the Finance Manager and may also receive technical input and task direction from the Senior Accountant. Work is assigned through formal and informal means, both orally and in writing, and is reviewed regularly for accuracy and compliance with adopted principles, policies and standards, which govern most activities. Performance is evaluated at least annually through the performance appraisal process.

Salary range: $6,425 to $8,400 per month
Starting salary: $6,425 to $7,347 per month, depending on qualifications.
Senior Accountant
Salary range: $7,495 to $9,798 per month
