Inter-American Performance Materials is seeking a highly skilled and motivated QHSE Manager to join our team. The QHSE Manager is responsible for providing quality system leadership, strategic and the required tactical planning by implementing company Guiding Principles that are the basis for creating a quality focused culture. Drive quality system excellence and perform improvement through real culture change and effective, sustainable management systems. Ensure leaders and employees are trained and equipped to manage their responsibilities within the quality system.
- Provide leadership and direction in achieving the quality vision and effective strategies through management commitment and employee ownership.
- Represent the Company in front of the customers in matters of execution of customer requirements.
- Represent the Company during internal, 3 party and customer audit activities.
- Provides direct support and oversight to the lab staff.
- Facilitate quality system ownership and accountability by the line organization through:
- The establishment and communication of clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Active and effective coaching by management and supervision.
- Employee understanding, acceptance, and use of challenge process and decision rights.
- Drive quality system excellence by creating metrics and total alertness to the quality culture and developing/implementing risk and compliance management systems.
- Evaluate and analyze quality issues in the production and introduce corrective and preventive action.
- Lead the development and use of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards. Drive and assist with the mitigation of identified gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure plant risk profile is addressed through development/implementation of key controls.
- Identify quality system development and training needs.
- Ensure a system exists to develop, manage, deliver, track, and document needed and required training.
- Ensure training is provided effectively (e.g., though documented demonstration of competency).
- Actively share and seek out knowledge (e.g., best practices, lessons learned, franchising of quality programs).
- Ensure change is identified, and proactively and effectively managed.
- Drive continuous improvement through the use of tools and activities, including: self-assessments and audit processes; metrics and targets (leading and lagging indicators); and periodic reviews of performance, culture, and talent.
- Effectively communicate facility quality vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with management and staff to ensure continued quality focus integration into core operations.
- Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to API Q1/ISO 9001 requirements by complying with the Quality Policy and procedures and meeting QMS objectives.
- Understand the implications of not conforming with QMS requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ten (10) plus years of proven experience with a company in a leadership role.
- Preferred: Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
