Job Summary
Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and maintain optimal inventory levels. Proactively identify inventory level optimization opportunities. Employ standards, metrics and processes to maximize inventory efficiency. The Manager will also review existing processes across business segments and combine best current state processes with industry best practices. Create processes to manage and monitor inventory levels for the business segments supported by NiSource Corporate Services consisting of both internally managed and 3rd party managed consignment inventory. The manager will be responsible to coach and train various teams throughout the business segments on proven tools and techniques to ensure inventory accuracy. Serves as the key contact for operations and warehouse personnel and is responsible for the administration of Corporate Supply Chain Policies and Procedures. Additional responsibilities include managing workload allocation, inventory accuracy, and provide monthly and quarterly reports to each business unit.
Essential Functions
- Establishes best practice for inventory control for all business segments to ensure optimal inventory levels for operational needs
- Independently prepares and presents data analysis findings.
- Conducts analysis to determine next steps to further investigate and validate inventory variances, and provide root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations as necessary
- Manages cycle counts for all NIPSCO warehouse and Columbia Gas Material Mod locations. Sets schedules, monitors performance and conducts reviews.
- Prepares and maintains records of inventory for gas and electric materials across all NiSource States.
- Maintains strong relationships with all business segments
- Assists in developing material demand plan and key performance metrics
- Ensures proper management of aging, excess and obsolete inventory
- Develops short, medium and long term plans to improve inventory practices; including inventory turns, cycle counting, and conduct physical inventories.
- Experience in business operations and managing multiple inventories across multiple systems and multiple states
- Manages all inquiries regarding inventory levels, product concerns and material recalls
- Ability to view the business from an enterprise perspective, as well as a business unit perspective
- Ability to effectively function under tight deadlines, prioritize and manage competing priorities and to respond quickly to high priority situations,
- Assist in maintaining Supplier Relationships

- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 4-6 years of experience in inventory management
- Working Knowledge: 3rd Party Consignment Inventory
- Working Knowledge: Principles of Accounting, Inventory control
- Knowledge of inventory control process methodologies
- Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access Data Base, and SAP S4Hana
- Excellent communication skills written and oral
- Ability to work outside of normal schedule
