This growth position is for a drafter with Mechanical Design Experience. The candidate should have experience with SolidWorks and CAD P&ID software. Experience should include design of 3D industrial equipment such as large vessels and skid packages that support conduit, piping, valves, instrumentation, etc.
Once a task is defined the Drafter/ME shall work with minimal supervision. This position reports to the Engineering Manager in the corporate hierarchy and a Project Manager for project-related work. To perform these jobs successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain P&ID documentation throughout the product design and build cycle.
- Create clear and concise fabrication level dimensional drawings of our gas treatment systems and their associated components to support production, procurement, and service activities. Proactively assist and support manufacturing to ensure your design is correct and fabricated to CMS standards.
- Completing project documentation/administration as scheduled and providing timely communication regarding deliverables, identifying technical, schedule and lead-time issues and notifying the team and project manager.
- Consider how design decisions or changes affect other disciplines designs and ensure they are informed of changes that may affect their designs or fabrication plans.
- Incorporate changes from production red-line drawing and physical inspection of products in Electrical schematic drawings and fabrication drawings to create as-built documentation.
Growth Project Responsibilities:
- Creating 2D fabrication drawing from 3D models.
- Design and document the mechanical features of new gas treatment systems, including the arrangement and mounting of system elements within the chassis: pipe penetrations, pump and other component placement, pipe routing, electrical cabinets, panel boards, lighting, man-door(s), HVAC, etc.
- Follow CMS design standards, reuse designs wherever possible, select components from preferred components list, create bill of materials.
- Design and document systems including minimum pipe diameters, pump specifications (reading pump curves), maximum design flow rates, and minimum design criteria to achieve goals.
- Provide designs and recommendations based on mechanical engineering principles as well as documenting and defending design decisions including load calculations & stress analysis of materials.
- Manage and interact with third-party sub-system vendors and suppliers to define requirements, create or select solutions, and commission the sub-systems.
- Work with the materials, production and electrical engineering teams to collect design input, review designs and incorporate feedback on layout, component selection, manufacturability, ergonomics, industry regulations and ruggedness.
- Other duties may include: failure analysis review, discrepant material review, coordination of manufacturing, component selection, assist marketing with technical support, interaction with customers regarding technical aspects of project.
- Developing control systems drawings and bills of materials.
- Updating design as project requirements change.
